The high school football season started strong, with the Cadott Hornets sitting at 1-0 after their opening game against the Augusta Beavers. During the off-season, the Hornets switched conferences from the Dunn-St. Croix Conference to the Lakeland Conference. With the team switching conferences, they have had to play difficult opponents that are farther away from Cadott than ever before. The coaching staff had some major changes to the roster this offseason, and they hope to improve the future of Cadott’s football program. This year, juniors and sophomores are having to step up with most of last year’s starters having been seniors. In regards to what has changed from last year to this year, sophomore Owen Fasbender said that he has “a greater leadership role” and had to “help peers due to his past experiences.” Additionally, Fasbender “likes the different game plan, the different practice set-ups, and how the attitude has changed from the past season” all thanks to new coaching staff. Fasbender’s personal goals for this season are to “score more touchdowns and have more receiving yards,” and his goals for the team are to improve day by day and gain more experience.” Come out and support the Hornets this season!
