From basketball to wrestling to dance, Cadott’s winter sports seasons are approaching, offering a variety of events for the students to participate in and the community to attend. This year, there are some changes, including a new coach for the girls basketball program. New head coach Dusty Burish says, “I’m excited for the upcoming season and can’t wait to get started in the gym and have some fun.” The girls team will have many returning players, losing only two seniors from last year. The first official game of the season will be Nov. 19 against Eleva-Strum. As for the boys team, the first official game will be Dec. 2 at Lake Holcombe. The boys will have a busy schedule this year with 24 games total and 11 of those being held at home. Boys and girls wrestling practice will start on Nov. 18. Both wrestling teams will have many young athletes again this year. Wrestlers have been preparing for the season by attending open wrestling rooms and training year-round. The boys wrestling team will have their first invitational on Dec. 7 at Ellsworth High School. The girls wrestling team will have a new head coach, Greg Sonnentag, with assistance from Jake Faber. The girls will have their first invitational at Wisconsin Dells on Dec. 13. The dance team has already started preparing for the season with their first practice on Nov. 4. This year, the dance team plans to perform during halftime at boys and girls varsity basketball games.
